File Roller's update to v44 has apparently heavily reduced its functionality compared to v43. Drag and drop functionality no longer works when dragging to either Nemo or Nautilus, and when trying to drag multiple files only one ends up selected. I'm using i3wm at the moment, so I might be missing some backend program with File Roller's move to gtk4, but I cannot find any information on what that might be.

A quick addendum, I can drag a file from Nautilus into File Roller just fine, but not the other way around

not sure what you mean to say here, both links are fairly old - this is something that broke with 44. it came at a bad time for me because i recently cleared out my cache so don't have old version available.
since file-roller v44, theming is no longer working for me, i can only select one file in the archive at a time and drag-and-drop no longer works. i was surprised because just opening up file-roller, it looks like it took a trip 10 years back in time.

I could not get this to work with GDK_PLATFORM=x11 file-roller
And from the top of the *open* linked merge request, https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/file-rol … quests/112
Previously we use some X11 API to get the drop target path and extract files there, but now with GTK4's new DnD API, we cannot get the drop target path and must prepare source before drop, but extracting is an async operation so it's hard to do this.
This broke with the GTK4 move because wayland sucks.
Edit: … and is obviously a still open bug, addressed upstream but not fixed.

Archlinux did a rollback on the package, https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … mmits/main
but it still drag'n drop and theming doesn't work.
edit: They didn't.
