[solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

Issue:
After updating my system with pacman -Syu, I encounter periodic input issues(keyboard doesn't work, cannot input, mouse is ok.) in Emacs after rebooting.
Restarting Emacs temporarily resolves the problem, but it eventually reoccurs.

Could you assist in diagnosing the problem and finding a solution?

Thank you all in advance.

Re: [solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

same here.

Downgrading

libx11       1.8.8-2      1.8.7-1        0.02 MiB

solved the issue whereas running

ibus-daemon --xim -d -r

worked only for a few seconds/keystrokes. Input, however, is still sometimes laggy (Gnome 46 issue?)

[2024-03-28T08:23:49+0800] [ALPM] upgraded xorgproto (2023.2-1 -> 2024.1-1)
[2024-03-28T08:23:49+0800] [ALPM] upgraded libx11 (1.8.8-1 -> 1.8.8-2)

libx11 1.8.8-1 -> 1.8.8-2  is only rebuilt for the xorgproto update.

@anxz, do you use ibus as well?

Re: [solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

sudo pacman -U libx11-1.8.8-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

It seems back to normal after downgrading the libx11 from 1.8.8.1 to 1.8.7.1
libx11-1.8.7.1 was released at 25th, and 1.8.8.1 was released at 26th.
So it might be also problematic in 1.8.7.1 and I didn't reboot in the past days, so the problem was hidden. (my speculation only).

No, I use fcitx5 @Seth

Re: [solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

I downgraded the libx11, and it seems back to normal.
I use XFCE and FVWM, both were facing the same problem before downgrading.

Thanks.

Re: [solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

1.8.8-1, not 1.8.8.1  - and you updated from that to 1.8.8-2
Have you tried the behavior w/ 1.8.8-1 ?

No, I use fcitx5

Still an IM wink
Does it work w/ the updated libx11 and w/o fcitx5?

Re: [solved]Keyboard malfunction in emacs after upgrade (dgrd libx11 )

just to confirm that the issue is present with libx11 1.8.8-1 and xorgproto 2023.2-1

no lockups w/ emacs -nw in the console, but a bit laggy behaviour.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php … 6#p2160256 ?

Thanks,

GSK_RENDERER=gl

had little effect, Graphics card is a NVIDIA 1050ti and usually fast enough, but changing the theme for legacy applications from adwaita to Arc restored the previous behaviour.
