Managed to mess up gtalk account in Gaim

Ok, having problems connecting to gtalk in gaim

port number on some howto's is 5222 others 5223 ?

Now seemed to have lost all my contacts that were set up under it .... just wondered if it was a jabber problem?

Dumb question do I need to be signed into gtalk for gaim to work?

Now none of my contacts are showing up

Help!!!

mine is set to 5222, with the talk.google.com server, and neither of the other 2 check boxes checked. And mine is working OK, except for the exact oppisite happened to me, all of my email contacts were imported into my buddy list.

No, you shouldn't have to be signed onto gtalk for gaim to work, as I nightly disconnect from it, and keep the program running. It is the only account I connect to, though.

I assume the check boxes you are on about are the tls ones? I have top two checked bottom two are not

Removed .gaim decided to start over so contacts have gone will just add them in again

All to add a new Buddy ;(

you have 4 checkboxes? I only have 2, but yes I meant the TLS ones. of course I am running beta6 rather than 3.

latest version set it up seems ok ... though no sound? .... anyway check boxes have gone so we'll see
