[Solved] Mate 1.28 - Panels keep crashing

Hi,

I use Arch Linux with the Mate Desktop and Mate Extras. Since the 1.28 update yesterday it happens, that nearly all Panels by Mate are crashing. This includes "View Desktop", "Workspace Switcher", "Clock", "Network Manager Applet", "Volume Control", "Clock" and many more.

First I thought it was some old config files, that might crash the applets, but even a fresh Installation of Arch Linux (yes, I completely reinstalled Arch) had the same problems.

Soooo, what am I missing? Are there some bugs in the 1.28 or did I forgot something important?

Here my system, just to be sure, that 1.28 doesn't need better hardware: Dell E4310 notebook with Intel GMA, 6GB RAM and first Gen i7 Pentium.

I appreciate all the help I can get to solve this matter.

With best regards,

Wolve-San

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Core_d … _core_dump
Alternatively post your complete system journal for the boot with such crashes:

sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st

Re: [Solved] Mate 1.28 - Panels keep crashing

Same here, since the upgrade  almost all applets crashes, It seems it is about the upgrade, there are some developer who know about the issue?

PD: I removed all the configuration files in order to get a default config, but the crashes keeps

Re: [Solved] Mate 1.28 - Panels keep crashing

The same thing happened here, even after doing a clean installation of the system, because I thought it was some configuration I had made that was buggy.

Re: [Solved] Mate 1.28 - Panels keep crashing

pacman -Q dconf-editor

Otherwise install it.

If that's not it, try to replace dbus-broker-units w/ dbus-daemon-units

Re: [Solved] Mate 1.28 - Panels keep crashing

Installing the dconf-editor fixed the problem. Thank you very much, Seth.

Just a little question: How do I get the journalctl output deleted from the site?
I would prefer, if the file wasn't on the server for 30-365 days.

Edit: I just wrote the admin to delete it. Thanks again for the help, Seth.

Do you have the X-Token?

It shows up w/ curl -v, I had considered altering  the command to print it, but that gets complicated because you've to swap stdin and stderr
Ftr:

echo foo | curl -v -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st 3>&2 2>&1 1>&3 | grep 'X-Token' # this isn't gonna work since there's probably a "foo" file any given time, so you're not getting a token because the file isn't new
