zero size xorg libX11.so.6

Hi all,

I dont really know how (maybe a failed full system update) but my libX11.so.6 is an empty file and it prevents me from using anything other than the tty. I tried to reinstall xorg from scratch but I am met with an error stating the following:

"ldconfig File /usr/lib/libQt6 ...."

and a whole bunch of Qt6 libraries complaining that they are also empty,

I do remember my pacman -Syu updated Qt6 a couple of hours ago ... since then I have no graphical interface.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks !

Re: zero size xorg libX11.so.6

Hi loqs, the method described in 3.5 did not work. It kept giving me the same problem with empty libraries. Since I had so many 0-sized libraries going one by one was not an option. Therefore, I ended up reinstalling the entire system and bringing my /home/ back to live. Overall I think this was a good solution since I was still having random kernel panics and freezes (https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=293990) and had not been able to work around it so I saw no point it fighting to bring up the system to a point where I still have kernel panics. With a clean slate I was able to install only with intel graphics. All I have to do now is to wait until fri*ing nvidia releases a stable driver for their A2000 card.

Re: zero size xorg libX11.so.6

Hi, do you still recall the nature of the update crash?
Did the system suddenly reboot or did it stall and you then rebooted it with the power button?

This is a mass-inquiry, so please excuse if your thread actually detailed that.
We're trying to get some data on the situation, so it would be very helpful if you can just briefly respond.
Thanks a lot.
