Hi all,
just switched over to arch and am having some difficulties mounting my ipod/ having linux recognize it. after plugging the ipod in dmesg | tail gives the following -
usb2-1: new full speed USB device using uhci-hcd and address 3
usb2-1: device descriptor read/65, error -71
this continues on down as several other addresses are tried.
have been unable to find any solutions on the web, and the only apposite post on the forum seems to have been disregarded.
any help would be much appreciated,

Also, the full output of anything dmesg says after the ipod is plugged in might help.

yes, my printer is recognized immediately on both systems. Something I should have made explicit in the initial query is that the ipod was recognized under the older kernel, and only after I made the switch to .8 did this become a problem.
full text of dmesg...

usb 2-2: device descriptor read/64, error -71

usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 4
usb 2-2: device not accepting address 4, error -71
usb 2-2: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5

A printer isn't a mass storage device - do you have a thumb drive or anything like that to try? Once anything like that is plugged in, what does lsusb show?
Which type of ipod is this?
By .8 do you mean "voodoo?" If so, in general arch doesn't really go by version numbers, but it does at least give folks an idea of what you're talking about. It's better to reference the version number of the app in question or the kernel, or to simply say you're running arch -current, fully updated. Have you done a "pacman -Syu" since installing arch? I've seen several reports of this error and various usb devices, but no solutions, unfortunately.
