I am doing a fresh install of Arch on a separate hard disk...
I installed and configured internet acces and installed sddm and kde, and setup sddm to use the wayland greeter.
I am using a KDE wayland session
As soon as I login on the SDDM screen, the screen switches to a text mode with a blinking cursor and stays there.
It seems as if it took down its graphical stack but is stuck in the console
If I press Alt-F3, KDE starts immediately.
The issue doesn't occur if I use the x11 greeter on sddm...
What gives?
Also, I have a (noob?) question - SDDM launches its own wayland session, and then it seems like it shuts it down before the desktop environment comes up, and then KDE relaunches its own one. Is the design of desktop managers like this? Would it not be simpler and faster if KDE took over the wayland compositor and continued there?
Thanks in advance
