hwdetect produces no output

i installed the hwdetect package and according to the wiki the command should list all needed modules for the hardware on my system. but

# hwdetect --show-modules

produces no output.
i`m running a custom kernel based on linux hardened but the same behaviour is observed the linux kernel.
when executing:

# hwdetect --filesystem --intel-kms

output

MODULES=(i915 ext4 vfat)

what am i missing?

Try "strace hwdetect --show-modules".

What's the return code of hwdetect? If it's 0, it's likely that hwdetect can't find anything and outputs empty result.

Re: hwdetect produces no output

My suggestion about using strace wasn't correct, hwdetect is a bash script: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … n/hwdetect

So, the best way to debug it is to run all the commands by yourself in bash. Maybe there is a error in the script or the dependency list for hwdetect is missing some essential tools. It also may work as intended.

the other commands i tried produced either no output or gave an error about wrong syntax. all dependencies for hwdetect are installed on my system
