Suspend to ram works with powersave daemon but resumes on lid open

Is there any way to modify this behavior? I have a T60 and utilizing the powersave daemon my suspend to ram works fine, but I can't find a way to stop it from resuming when I open the lid of my laptop. I am using the stock 2.6.19 kernel.

I do not know powersave... Look for lid in its huge config files. But I am pretty convinced that this is a bios setting. To be sure that it is not acpi related, inspect /var/log/acpid.

I guess opening the lid causes an ACPI event, which makes your BIOS resume the whole box. You could look in acpid and powersave config files if you can find a way to disable this. Also check your BIOS for resume settings.

Re: Suspend to ram works with powersave daemon but resumes on lid open

I have (or rather had, when s3 used to work) exactly the same behaviour here on dell latitude d610.  Anyway, to be honest, why would you need to change this behaviour? Do you often happen to open up the lid and just look at the computer without powering it on? :-) If so, don't close the lid after suspending and you'll be able power it on with power button only. Seriously though I guess there's no way to change it, as this stuff is AFIK bios related.

Re: Suspend to ram works with powersave daemon but resumes on lid open

yea just strange because in XP this behavior doesn't occur, so I figured it wasn't bios related (newb assumption?) i'll look into the above assumptions.

it doesn't bother me all that much, it probably truly only interferes once in a while, but i guess it is a control issue. after all, if you dont have control under linux, then where else would you? haha. especially if winxp is getting the job done. heh

Thanks everyone for hte suggestions.

You're sure xp is writing to ram and not to disk?

yea, the difference between hibernate and suspend is clear in XP.
