[SOLVED] How packages on AUR are imported?

I have been maintained some packages on AUR.
A month ago, a package I maintained was made a official one. I was happy that, but I was a little bit sad that there are no history of my contribution on the repository.  Today, unexpectedly I saw the history of pnpm and there is a commit: Imported from AUR

Are threre any rules to remain the contribution of the AUR maintainers when official maintainers import packages from AUR?

Re: [SOLVED] How packages on AUR are imported?

Ususally the former contributors are listed on top of the PKGBUILD in the Maintainers/Contributors comments.

Its not always easy to preserve history since we enforce certain rules for repositories, which is also the case for new repositories so far: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … /issues/17

Disabling the afforementioned rules needs DevOps powers and also people are used to still import without history from the SVN times. You can check out this devtools issue for further discussion: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … issues/143

Thank you for your reply smile

I can understand this.

Sorry, my text is not good... I would like to say that "Why are there no contributor comments".

The package (my package is not pnpm) does not contain this... Maybe, any reasons exist?

Re: [SOLVED] How packages on AUR are imported?

Good question, did you ever add yourself up there? To me this looks alright:

Last version on the AUR:

# Maintainer: Severen Redwood <me@severen.dev>
# Contributor: Tomasz Jakub Rup <tomasz.rup@gmail.com>

Version now in the repos:

# Maintainer: Daniel M. Capella <polyzen@archlinux.org>
# Contributor: Severen Redwood <me@severen.dev>
# Contributor: Tomasz Jakub Rup <tomasz.rup@gmail.com>

pnpm is just as an example because I have considered the currently maintainer. The package I was maintained is turbo.

When official maintainers create a package which name is the same as a package on AUR, how does it proceed? import it from AUR or create from scratch?

Oh, I see...

Thank you guys. I misunderstood that maintainers always import packages existing on AUR when they provide them as official ones.

Re: [SOLVED] How packages on AUR are imported?

Is the original AUR maintainer informed about the change in any way beyond the deletion email?

I received the deletion e-mail only from an AUR user.

How else should they be informed of it? I usually try to write a bit whats happening and thank the maintainer for their prior work, see i.e. here https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/li … RB2VXQGZP/

Re: [SOLVED] How packages on AUR are imported?

I had no idea how, hence my question. I didn't know you can write a comment. It was just a system notification in my imagination, "Your package has been deleted." or something. tongue
