a stop job is running for session 1 of user rik

this message appears everytime when I try to shut down or reboot. its takes around 1 min 30 secs. tried systemctl list-jobs. it gave no jobs running

That means some software in your normal user session is not properly reacting to the termination command. Are you mounting some disc/network share in your $HOME or do you run any specific daemon/software that doesn't quit properly? Look at post the output of

sudo journalctl -b-1

The journal appears to show the system reboot took 2 seconds.

just noticed. this was only time rebooted normally. I am rebooting again to check

You can access older journals w/ … -b -2  … -b -3 … -b -4 …
