problem with D-bus, dbus-uuidgen [solved]

Im trying to start xchat but all I get is this error:

$ xchat
process 3066: D-Bus library appears to be incorrectly set up; failed to read machine uuid: Failed to open "/var/lib/dbus/machine-id": No such file or directory
See the manual page for dbus-uuidgen to correct this issue.
  D-Bus not built with -rdynamic so unable to print a backtrace
Aborted

I've read in the manual page, but it didn't get me any further.

It looks like a new dbus package was just released a few minutes ago so maybe it will fix the problem.
