[Resolved] SDDM launches to a black screen after boot

I'm running KDE plasma6 on a Lenovo T570 with an nvidia graphics card (nouveau driver). When freshly installed, I launched into sddm and KDE fine and booted into it as well. However, now when I start my system, it goes to a black screen with a white index bar on the top left and the cursor showing/able to move. I am unable to do anything (at least from what I've tried) to "get out of" this screen. Upon some investigation online, it seems like a sddm/Xorg problem, since if I boot into tty and start sddm from the command line it recreates the problem. Here is the output from running $ sddm --test-mode:

Running: /usr/bin/Xephyr -br -screen 800x600 -auth xauth_maRBuQ -noreset -displayfd 16
Failed to start display server process.
Attempt 1 starting the Display server on vt -1 failed
Tried to start Xorg before previous instance exited
(it repeats this before I ^C out)

Here is the journal from a boot where I recreate the bug by having sddm enabled https://0x0.st/XBWX.txt

any help would be appreciated, and please let me know if there are formatting issues or you need more info, as I am a week into trying to use Linux as a vector for learning more about computers with no CS experience. Thanks!

After reinstalling KDE and sddm, it works.
Marking as resolved.
