sometime in april, there was an update to gwenview that caused the "open in new window" menu option to stop having any apparent effect on my setup. on top of that, the other applications that could open images were no longer listed in the menu, although if i typed one in manually every time it would open correctly. after troubleshooting, i discovered that it works as intended while using kde plasma, but not while using a stock mate environment even on a new user, nor my personal setup of awesome plus some mate utilities. i can confirm gwenview 24.02.1, the version from the march 31 arch archive snapshot, does not have the bug
i'm not familiar with the relevant project structures. what's the most appropriate way to make this bug known to whoever would need to see it? preferably without having to create any additional user accounts if possible

i have more information on this. for a little bit i was using the previously mentioned arch snapshot for my whole system, but just now i decided to upgrade but with `IgnorePkg = gwenview` in `/etc/pacman.conf`. then i launched gwenview and confirmed it was still 24.02.1, but the bug i had observed was happening! so, my guess is the bug isn't in gwenview in the first place, but one of its dependencies
leaving this here for now since i'm still getting conflicting information about where i'm supposed to post this and maybe someone here will know. i might try one of the kde-specific forums or something though
edit: i opened a thread on kde discuss https://discuss.kde.org/t/gwenview-open … hing/17187
