barcode scanning to create a book library

I've just seen this software for the Mac and wondered if anyone knows of anything similar for linux?

It basically allows you to hold up your book/video barcode to a webcam which reads it and does a lookup on some database then gives you info back. It also remembers what you have so you have a database of your library.

Having a large book collection this would be a very useful bit of software.

Have a look at this. May be useful if you decide to write something to fulfill your task... ;-)
