Hello,
I'm having a weird issue with a SD card reader I recently purchased. When I insert a SD card into it, it'll take a while, sometimes up to a minute, before the card shows up in Dolphin, I can then click on it to mount it. Afterwards I can browse the filesystem of the card without issue but the moment I try to copy files off of it Dolphin hangs and then the entry of the card disappears and it is unmounted.
I booted up a Windows 10 virtual machine and in there I can copy multiple files in one go before it also unmounts the card and remounts it. However the unmount/remount happens a lot quicker, almost instantaneously, inside the Windows VM.
This is what I get from
journalctl -f
when the card is mounted and I try to copy a file off of it with Dolphin.

The SD card does not have any issues, it works fine in my camera and I have a laptop with an internal card reader where the same card works fine. To me it looks like a bug in the driver but I'm not sure how to find out which driver is utilized by this card reader.
*edit
this is what happens when I insert an older microSD card into the card reader. Note that I didn't even try to copy anything off of it.

Run "dmesg -w" and plug the reader (w/o any card) and post the tail that generates - it looks like y regular usb mass storage device, though (ie. garden variety usb key like)
Can you test the reader on a different host (eg. the laptop)?
Offline
I'm unable to do that as the reader is an internal card reader. It plugs in to a USB connector on the mainboard. It's the Inter-Tech Multicardreader CI-01
I do not have another PC available that is able to accommodate this device.

Check the internal wiring and a different usb connector (if present)
Is it directly attached to a USB 3.0 connector or do you use a USB3 to 2 adapter?
Offline
It's directly attached to a USB 3.0 connector. Will check tomorrow if I have another way to attach it.

I checked and there is no other way to attach it. While I do have a second USB3 socket on my mainboard it is unreachable - and also occupied by the front panel. If I wanted to rewire this I'd have to take roughly two thirds of the component out of the case which I'd really like to avoid.
Offline
Can you run it out of an open case? (It's not like you'd use a spinning disk in it so it doesn't have to be mounted anywhere)
You could also test it against some live distro (grml etc) but the IO errors are probably not just a kernel bug.
