Hello, I have just finished installing arch and am very pleased from what I have seen so far.
I have encountered a problem which I don't really know how to deal with.
I have a bit of an old computer a P-2 450 and it has a creative Sound blaster 16bit PNP ISA card.
when I ran the Al-Amlug it recognized it and everything worked. I believe it called the module "sb"
when I installed arch from the base iso it didn't recognize the card and even afer I downloaded hwd it still doesn't find anything...
I tried to modprobe sb but it says the module not found
anyone know how can I make it work?
Thank you for your help,
Omri
Which kernel ? The AMLUG CD uses kernel 2.4.X. For the 2.4 series the module is indeed called sb. For the 2.6 series however, you will have to use ALSA. search the forum for the various ALSA threads and the ALSA howto.

Thanks,
I found the alsa-howto guide in the forum and got alsa running on my system.
But I have again a few questions :
a) can I save the mixer settings so they won't default to mute each time I restart?
b) I have enlightenment and for some reason esound doesn't work and I can't find a way to configure it... any Ideas?
