Install arch on ubuntu?

Is it possible to install arch on a ubuntu install?
and everything will work?

I have ubuntu install and many things in it that i can't delete... all i want is to install arch on it w/o deleting anything.

i don't quite understand what you're trying to do.

if you mean, install arch on the ubuntu /. then it's not something i'd recommend.

if you are referring to removing the ubunto base files, then it might work, still wouldn't recommend it though.

i'd go about it as so:
i'd install base using the newarch tool~ http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Qui … stallation
i'd create a new directory under /, say ub.
then move all conflicting directories that appear in the arch base install. (usr,bin,sbin,...) to ub. i've done it before so i'm pretty sure you can move a live system.
after that i'd move/copy the arch base to /

and reboot into it.

If you want to *replace* Ubuntu with Arch, you'd probably only want to keep your home directory and maybe save some files from the /etc directory to help configure the new Arch system. If you want to run Arch *inside* ubuntu, you want to look at emulators like Qemu, Xen, vmware, etc.
