Hi, just to get it out of the way, I'm searching for the cause / fix of a Bug I had until recently, in connection to external Monitors / Docking stations.
My Laptop is a Tuxedo Laptop (I think, German Producer) with following spec (relevant ones, probably)
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H
Alder Lake-P GT2 [Iris Xe Graphics
Since I had the laoptop from work (I think it was two years ago),
I had this annoying _transient_ input lag, when I connected it to a docking station / external monitors and enabled them with xrandr (arandr didn't work, cause it doesn't support explicitly setting the refresh rate, the time it took to understand, that this was due to the refresh-rates between the monitors required to be the same, is another can of worms).
This transient input lag manifested in a way, that keyboard input (via external keyboard, don't know for sure if it also was the laptop keyboard too, probbly some usb issue) was slugging / lagged, and windows didn't respond well to mouse inputs or keyboard inputs, and some applications like Intellij (I'm just assuming java applications in general reacted the same way), showed a blank window only in the color of the background color of the set profile or whatever.
This lag was transient / intermittent for about 30-45 seconds, then it went away and everything worked as it should. It was just a major annoyance / pita.
I'm just curious, did anybody else had this issue too, and knows what in the kernel got fixed that made it go away?
Unfortunately, I don't update regularily as I should, but I think, when I pulled kernel 6.9.7 the issue was suddenly gone. From what I gather out of my pacman.log, it must have been resolved between kernel 6.8.7 and 6.9.7.
I really wanna know what caused this, and how this got fixed. This was one weird bug, where googling didn't help. Luckily it got resolved, but I'd like to know what fixed it.
Thx for all.

So you want help diagnosing a problem that is 1) gone so we cant collect any relevant information about it and 2) the information you report about it includes a lot of vague inferences, and assumptions (e.g., that it may or may not have applied to both keyboards and you assume it applied to java programs). There's no way that could go in a productive direction.
But you have the ability to test. If you suspect upgrading the kernel fixed it, then downgrade the kernel to test.
Don't ask others to speculate wildly when you have the ability to test it directly.

Forget it that I dared to ask the collective knowledge of people if someone observed something similar, and if anybody poked around the rabbit hole what the underlying cause was that got fixed. I'm sorry it wasn't bothering so much that I tried to find the cause.
If you bothered to read my post completely you would not have misunderstood completely what my actual question is. The input lag applied to everything and Java applications (presumably have the additional odd behavior I described, but the rest doesn't really matter.
I tested several kernels. Only thing I didn't was the keyboard / mouse. Kernel showed the lag improved.
I'm sooo sorry that I'm too much of a pleb that I can't provide more information.
Yes yes sarcasm. Community guidelines. Ironic, since I was short of reporting your post for violation of them for being toxicly (is that a word) arrogant.
