Laptop suddenly develops intermittent input

So I've installed Arch on my Asus Vivobook S14 and it's been working perfectly for a while but recently it's started having an issue where after some time being turned on where the keyboard will randomly skip certain inputs made worse by typing quickly. If typing slowly it's usually okay (that's how I typed this lmao). The issue vanishes for some time after rebooting the laptop but eventually always comes back. I've tried googling solutions and tried some I thought could be related but nothing has been exactly the same issue. Any and all help would be massively appreciated as I use this laptop to code for my degree so I need my typing back!
Editing after restarting as I realised I had missed some crucial details. The issue doesn't occur when the laptop is sat in the disk encrypt stage. I'm running Plasma KDE as my desktop environment.

Re: Laptop suddenly develops intermittent input

Have you checked the system resources when experiencing the problem? A memory leak could cause a generally sluggish desktop, do you notice performance suffering otherwise when the keyboard is playing up?

Is anything written to the systemd journal or desktop logs? Which desktop environment is this?

Aside: I would never notice a problem like that, my typing speed is measured in minutes per word sad

EDIT: welcome to the forums!

When the system heats up…
Do you get the same behavior w/ an external keyboard?

I'm running Plasma KDE as my desktop environment.

X11, wayland or "doesn't matter"?

Re: Laptop suddenly develops intermittent input

I am having a similar issue.

I have a Vivobook S 14X (M5402RA) and I too have recently started having issues with the keyboard.
I don't think speed has much to do with it.
Here is what I'm typing and the output from evtest.

(The misalignment between input and log is due to the use of the dvorak layout.)

There is no output in systemd.
This occurred on all systems: Wayland(Hyprland), Xfce(X11), and tty. It didn't happen on Windows.

It seems to happen more often when the computer is heating up. The temperature during the filming of the video above was 82°C (This model doesn't seem to be able to adjust the cooling fan speed very well on linux.)

No, so I'm typing this using external keyboard.

Re: Laptop suddenly develops intermittent input

It didn't happen on Windows.

"Didn't" or "doesn't"?

In case of the latter 3rd link below. Mandatory.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons.

In case that's dated information, the situation could have developed over time (or summer) and is likely mechanical (maybe electrical) and temperature driven. Or because the fans worked on windows…

No, so I'm typing this using external keyboard.

Can you remove the keyboard from the case and use it outside of it (depends on how it's attached and how long that cable is, but just not having it locked inside the frame but floating on top of it is likely enough.
I suspect that the heat expands the keyboard, makes it slightly bend under tension and that exposes a loose connection/thin wire.
