Is it possible to expose fprintd to web browsers?

Hey friends, one thing I really dig on my Mac is the ability to authenticate biometrically with my web browser. I have fprintd setup and running, it works with kscreenlocker and I've also configured it for sudo. My question is, is there a way to integrate it with my web browsers so that I can use my fingerprint to authenticate on supported websites?

You're probably looking for support in kwallet?

Ah interesting. Yeah, not sure if it's kwallet? Ex., when I go to gmail.com in my web browser, I can input my username, and then there is a popup asking for my fingerprint. I don't know how this is all wired up but it's very convenient

Once kwallet can be opened with a fingerprint (ideally happening transparently when logging in with a fingerprint through SDDM) things will be pretty awesome, though.

You can unlock kwallet automatically at login, but that requires you to enter a password (as it needs to be forwarded) - https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/KDE_Wa … y_on_login

Unless you've somehow configured gmail to use your fingerprint as credential (what means you uploaded it to google…) some passwordmanager (built into the browser or available systemwide) will be used to complete the password for the login and that will be guarded by your fingerprint.

Gotcha, yeah, that makes sense.

The kwallet password thing is annoying, it negates the utility of a fingerprint login via SDDM If I can fingerprint auth through SDDM and simultaneously unlock wallet with no further action, I'll be a happy camper!
