Hi,
I'm currently running Steam proton on some games. However, whenever I run these games, it tends to freeze the system after 5-10 minutes of running. The game would freeze, I could still switch windows (running on Xorg, NVIDIA, i3, picom), but I cannot kill the game's process. However, certain processes will freeze as well, I cannot run htop or ps, for example. When I run `strace ps aux`, it seems that ps aux would be stuck on `read(4,` of the game's process. Additionally, here is the journalctl log at the time of the game's crashing:
I can't use pastebin, but here is the journalctl output. Let me know if this is too big and I can find another alternative: https://gofile.io/d/KwAVXe
I don't think the issue is memory, because I can play games on my windows drive just fine. I could be wrong on this though.
Edit: I'm currently tracking a similar issue here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=293400. For reference, I'm on kernel 6.10.4 and NVIDIA driver 555.58.02.
Edit 2: I installed nvidia-open-beta instead and now the kernel won't freeze, but the game will crash instead. Much better result, I supposed *shrug*.
Edit 3: nvidia-open-beta is still freezing the kernel with entry_SYSCALL_64_after_hwframe. I'm going to give up on this for now ![]()
Edit 4: Turned out I needed to update my BIOS and all my issues were gone (Z790-A Wifi Motherboard).
Thanks! ![]()
