[Solved] X11 desktop works, wayland blank

I have configured a virtual machine with snapper and grub-btrfs. I finished my config and was playing around, when the system become unresponsive and I had to force off. Since then the wayland session is blank after login (archinstall desktop profile: KDE (SDDM))). X11 still works perfectly. I tried rolling back to snapshots a day back (the hickup appeared minutes ago), but still the wayland session remains blank after logon.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot?

I found the culprit: it was KDE's night light setting. Logging into the X11 session and disabling it carries over to Wayland as well.
