I was trying to install Arch 0.7.2 last night. I placed the cd into the drive tray and rebooted. The cd fired up and presented me with the boot: prompt. But when I typed 'arch' or just hit enter, my machine simply rebooted and I ended up at the same place as before.
I cat /proc/cpu and it is a 686 machine according to Slackware. Any idea of what is going on?

You didn't mention it so I'll just ask: did the md5sum's match? It's the first thing I usually check whenever I have an issue with an InstallCD that acts odd right off the bat.

It was the official CD purchased from OSDisc.com. No matter what the source--download or other, it does this all of the time...

As McQueen has already stated, the first obvious step is to recheck the iso for to make sure it isn't corrupted. Second, I would attempt to use the newest beta iso (0.8) which can be found by searching the forums. BTW, what type of hardware are you attempting to install on? It also would be worth a check to make sure you didn't accidentally download the x86_64 disc image.

It does the same thing on all of the machines I try it on.
