I am attempting to install Arch Linux onto a new SSD. I have not succeeded, however, in getting through step 1.4 (Boot the live environment) in the guide. After about 10-ish seconds, my monitor blinks out briefly before turning back on (like the signal is dropping out?) and then the tty cursor stops blinking. The fans in my tower seem to accelerate for an instant while this happens -- it's the same sound it makes when it first loads other operating systems. Despite this, though, the tty output doesn't go past any more than the first 10 or so lines (I'll upload a picture of my monitor in a minute).
The guide for making the installation medium provides two points of advice for my circumstance:
If the UEFI version of the USB's Arch ISO hangs or is unable to load, try repeating the medium creation process on the same USB drive one or more times. If this does not work, you may also try updating your motherboard's firmware.
Trying these methods has not yielded new results.
I'm as new to forums as I am to Arch Linux, so let me know if I'm missing something obvious with either! Thanks for the help! =]

Morning update: I've found a workaround that has allowed me to proceed with installation, but feels like a sign that I have something deeper wrong with my setup. I have found that Archlinux only loads if I set the 'nomodeset' flag on the kernel. This is the case for any kernel I put in -- including my old Ubuntu installation. There's other details about how the nomodeset seems to bork things, but they don't feel specific to Archlinux looking at what happens to Ubuntu, so I'll save them for another forum probably.

Yeah, this is officially fixed. Turns out I did not correctly update my motherboard firmware the first time things are going super-smooth since I fixed that.
