Problems with intel_catpt and sound on broadwell laptop

On an install of archlinux on a new laptop, audio is randomly breaking periodically and htop shows systemd-journald using 100% of my cpu

I ran

journalctl -f

and got back a spam of:

it doesn't happen on boot, only randomly and when it does the audio stops working and the laptop becomes incredibly slow.
I have no idea how to fix this so I'd appreciate any pointers, googling any of the errors led me nowhere so I'm completely lost.

Known bug in the 6.10.8 kernel, update your system, the relevant revert should be present in 6.10.9-2
