gnome packets dependings

Hello

Its interesting why gnome-panel package depends on evalution-data-server. And it seems that there are a lots of packets depends on it.

If i'm not going to use evalution, why i need to install this stuff?

Regards, Alex

Re: gnome packets dependings

It should be optional. Gnome panel does work without the evolution data server. I do not know why the maintainer keeps the dependency. However, if you use the Gnome desktop, the evolution data server gets pulled in by a lot of stuff anyway. If not, which packages pulls in gnome-panel?

It's for the clock applet. The clock applet integrates your evolution calendar. Without the dependency, the clock applet will refuse to load.

Re: gnome packets dependings

Well, I was wrong. I should not have commented on this as I am not even running Gnome. I just remembered that it was optional in Gentoo.
