Since todays update of gspell to 1.14.0-1 my email program evolution (version 3.52.4-2 since Aug. 3, 2024, 5:53 p.m. UTC) crashes immediately on start up with message:
evolution: error while loading shared libraries: libgspell-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I have the same issue with evince
evince: error while loading shared libraries: libgspell-1.so.2: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
I ran
ldd /usr/bin/evince
libgspell-1.so.2 => not found
It seems to me that the libgspell.so version contained in the gspell package is different from the version required by evince, evolution, etc.
pacman -Ql gspell | rg libgspell
gspell /usr/lib/libgspell-1.so
gspell /usr/lib/libgspell-1.so.3

Is there a workaround until this gets fixed?
Edit: I downgraded to gspell 1.12.2-3 and evolution now works fine again.

Sure, downgrade gspell

pacman -U https://archive.archlinux.org/packages/g/gspell/gspell-1.12.2-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Downgrading_packages for details.

Arch just pushed an updated evolution package evolution 3.52.4-2 -> 3.52.4-3 and this works fine with gspell 1.14.0-1 so this should now be resolved.

Perhaps you could add [SOLVED] to the title of this thread?
