Is there a way to remap screen pixel colours in Arch / XFCE? I'd like to map all sufficiently dark pixels to true black so that my OLED screen can power off those pixels to save battery.
For context, I'm using an OLED laptop (Dell XPS 13 9340). Despite being brand new it seems to have a terrible battery life despite all the usual fixes. I've only ever run Arch on it. Powertop reports that the screen is the biggest power drain, using around 9 Watts.
I've read that the principal efficiency gain of OLEDs comes from the fact that individual pixels can be turned off. I've set the system (XFCE) to dark mode, but various implementations of dark mode (e.g. many websites) use dark grey rather than black. So I'd like to have my screen switch these to black.
