WLAN madwifi - ath0 fails to load

Well, hi guys.

I installed Arch two days ago and loaded madwifi drivers.
ath_pci is placed in the modules in rc.conf,
conf.d/wireless and rc.conf are set according to examples and tuts.
At the beginning ath0 loaded but failed to connect, I had to write the line given in conf.d/wireless manually after boot. (iwconfig ath0 essid bla key s:yadda)
But since yesterday afternoon ath0 doesnt load anymore. Manually modprobe ath_pci doesnt change it.
The Atheros chip is listed in lspci though.

The last thing I did before that problem occured was booting windows... and during the last Linux session I installed gaim, warsow and ooo, i think. Shouldnt cause a problem i guess. Desktop is XFCE4.

I hope its just some kind of simple problem...

Just had a look at it again, some more information for you
:
"iwconfig" doenst list wifi0 or ath0.

"wlanconfig create ath0 wlandev wifi0 wlanmode sta"
says "ioctl: no such devide"

"lsmod" reports the modules are loaded (ath_hal ath_pci.... )

the chip is AR5212 btw.

\o/ it works. removed countrycode specification and eth0 which was dhcp but not connected atm. One of these did the trick.
Now I just need to know how I can get rid of manually connecting my wlan after boot.

What is that supposed to mean? Maybe get (k)networkmanager.
