[Nvidia] Have to switch TTY's to bring display back when turning TV on

I have checked NVIDIA/Tips and Tricks as well as NVIDIA/Troubleshooting and while I do see the section about using

nvidia-suspend nvidia-resume

but I am not suspending (just turning TV off/on) and it seems related to GDM and I am using KDE.

I have an LG C1 TV as my monitor (HDMI), and whenever I turn the TV on I get no display until I switch to TTY2 and then back to TTY1 - then the display comes back. It's not a huge deal but if there's a solution for this that'd rule.

Any suggestions?

- 6.10.10-arch1-1
- Nvidia 4090
- 560.35.03
- KDE

Re: [Nvidia] Have to switch TTY's to bring display back when turning TV on

whenever I turn the TV on I get no display until

No display on the TV or at all?
The relevant dameon would be kscreen, but it the output might not get registered.
Is this on wayland or X11?
What's the output of "xrandr -q" after switching on the TV but before (and then also after) switching the TTY?

I mean the TV turns on and I get the TV displaying "No signal". Then I switch TTY and I get a black screen with a large KDE mouse. Then I switch to TTY 1 and I get my desktop back.

Wayland. So I don't think xrandr -q would be the thing here, that and I cannot run before switching TTY as the display has no signal.

EDIT: I've had this issue on X11 as well since the beginning, but I no longer use it.

Re: [Nvidia] Have to switch TTY's to bring display back when turning TV on

1. is there a second monitor (what are you looking at *before* turning on the Tv?)
2. well, you're gonna use X11 now
3. xrandr works on wayland but only on an emulation layer, probably not the best data for this situation
4. sleep 30; xrandr -q # now turn on the tv and wait 30s

It might just be the hdcp handshake and you need a modeswitch to reinitiate that, there's been a similar thread recently.
