hi i am a little bit newbie user. when i installing arch, during downloading packages by pacman process stop at 99 percent.
i am installing from ftp. i tried install from cd but it was the same. (first package is complete, second stop at 99%).
system is active, pacman also respond to CTRL+C. (i installed arch about 1 year before (miracle) and did this same when i used pacman - so i had to start using something else (fedora)... )
(adsl 1024kb/s, modem with ethernet switch, 3Com NIC -3c905C)
please advice
thanks
(sorry for my bad english)

If you get to 99%, and then Ctrl+C, and restart the update, does the output go back to 99% and stop, or does it move on to the next package?

i don't update - i want to install arch from ftp... i am not able to install arch. once uppon time i did it. but install anyhting via pacman was horror. it almoust always freeze at 99%. i pressed CTRL+C and start process again... yes, then it move to next package (brobably - it was before half year ). i won't use cd 0.7.2 now - it's not up to date...
(i thinked up to now that it's some like bug in pacman, or bug in download process - something what i can't resolve)
i tried arch on my compaq p3 and friends asus athlon64 - the same results .

Try wget. It still freeze for a few seconds, but restarts itself. You wan't need ctrl+c

thanks very much. i use it after install arch from CD. i finally find 0.8 beta iso
ftp://ftp.archlinux.org/other/0.8/i686/ … 2-i686.iso
my problem solved this line in pacman.conf (wget sometimes freezing )
XferCommand = /usr/bin/aria2c -s 2 -m 2 -o %o %u
before use it you must do
pacman -S aria2
