geoclue and privacy

I've installed the plasma desktop, and now it is running geoclue, which is a dependency of xdg-desktop-portal (and I need the xdg-desktop-portal for microphone/webcam sharing during virtual conferences).

My understanding is that geoclue is a service that provides my geographic location to applications.

There is no Arch Wiki page about geoclue.

I see this as a privacy issue.

I don't understand why it gets activated by default, and how I can disable it without uninstalling xdg-desktop-portal.

Re: geoclue and privacy

You can always mask services you don't want running: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Systemd#Using_units
