Attempting to use an external monitor alongside the built in display results in only one being recognized by the system at a time, but only in a plasma wayland session. Closing the laptop lid enables and sets the external monitor to the default. This does not happen in any other context I have tried: In SDDM both monitors are enabled simultaneously. On TTYs both monitors are mirrored. The monitor is connected over DisplayPort to Thunderbolt dock then to the laptop. The laptop is a Thinkpad x390 with no dedicated GPU. I have heard of this issue with NVIDIA powered laptops, but never with any else.

Can you alter the output layout in systemsettings and enable both monitors?

No, only one or the other appears in system settings at a time. Opening the laptop lid disables and hides any mention of the external monitor entirely.

Ah, embarrassingly, I seemed to have missed a drop-down menu in the display configurations module in system settings. It's been a while since I've used plasma (maybe since plasma 5.15). I swear i've been trying to debug this for days! Thank you for your time!
