Computer (NOT notebook/laptop) monitor image is dark

Hi!

First, sorry, if I do not use correct terminology/words here. English is not my first language and I am also not know enough words in the topic of images, colors, and such things.

Few days ago I started to having issues in Minecraft that everything seemed to be darker, some places went pitch black what previosly was not-so-dark. I went a few rounds around and it turned out somehow the image on my monitor what I see went darker than I am used to.
I took some screenshot under my Linux setup and I checked this issue under Windows 11 also (since I have a dual-boot setup) and I do not see this on the took pictures under Windows OS on the exactly same monitor with exactly same (hardware) settings, so I am pretty sure it is a new driver/X/DE/whatever setting that makes everything darker, but only on my primary monitor. The strangest thing that I do not see this issue even under Arch Linux on my secondary monitor.

My current setup:

- Video card: nVidia GeForce GTX 1660 Ti
- Primary Monitor: Samsung LS32AM500NRXEN (connected with HDMI)
- Secondary Monitor: BENQ G900 SensEye-LCD (yep it's a very old monitor) (connected with DVI)
- Kernel: linux-lts
- Driver: nVidia propriertary (nvidia-lts)
- Graphical DE: MATE Desktop Environment

I need some help to start fight with this issue. I am familiar with command line, working with Linux for almost 20 years, but mostly on server side, not client side. So, I am a bit newbie when X/video card settings comes into the picture.
Again, this is not a laptop. I cannot set backlight or similar thing on the configurations because normal desktop PCs mostly do not support this. I did not configured brightness or other settings on the monitor itself when I rebooted from Arch Linux to Windows 11. This is - as far as I can see - a software issue.

For some reasons I cannot switch to nouveau driver (I had a lot of issues with that) so if it possible to avoid this step, I would like to avoid.
Also, I do not want to replace MATE with GNOME or other DEs. I can install and boot into it to check settings or other things if it is needed but my primary work setup is MATE and I want to keep it so.

Having multiple WM/DE installed is not a problem on (arch) linux, but not needed atm.

Please post the output of lspci -k and the content of xorg log .
Also upload journal/dmesg from current boot to a public pastebin site and post the link.

You could create a fresh linux test user, perform minimal gui/mate configuration and verify if that user also has the issue.
