Re: need help

Did you finalize the CD when you were burning?

If you used Nero (on a windh0ze machine) you have to select the option, Finalize CD no futher writing possible. Otherwise it will leave the cd "open" for a multi-session.

Re: need help

maybe it's is not a problem to boot, but:
archlinux i686 optimized. you need at last Pentium Pro to run it.

Re: need help

That P133 will not run Arch. You're probably better off looking at slack or debian.

Re: need help

Try Lowarch. It's a version of Arch modified to run on old systems like yours.

Also, kate? You don't want to even try running KDE on a P133. Your best bet is either Openbox, Fluxbox, or stick to text-only.

Re: need help

Your problem is that your P133 probably can't boot from CD-ROM -- that's quite normal for such old devices. But even if it could you wouldn't have fun with ArchLinux because, as has been pointed out, Arch needs at least a PPro CPU. I would recommend a i386 oriented distribution that offers bootdisks, e. g. Debian.

Re: need help

or maybe VectorLinux, it usually runs on older hardware, its based on slackware, prolly try the 5.8 standard version, although.... I find it hard concentrating on any other distro now that I've found arch, I'm luvin it more and more each day
