My desktop crashed yesterday at some point when unattended and ended the logged-in user session. The following is a section of the journal from around when that happened:

Is anyone else seeing this happen?
It has only happened once so far. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Your journal excerpt is cropped, use "journalctl -l " to see the full path of the file in /Documents/Zotero/storage/tmp> triggering the warning, then check the output of
file filename
localsearch info --file filename
Did you leave the desktop unattended while there was a task running, can be simple things like, for example, copying data around?

The directory
/Documents/Zotero/storage/tmp-5VOfHr/
is no longer present when look. It seems like it is a temporary directory created during some operations by Zotero.
Yes, there were some python programs running overnight (unrelated to Zotero).

Ok. What should happen is localsearch re-trying a few times on warnings and then die/let it be. But there are some issues open where it ends up crashing gnome-shell, like ones linked in https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/localsearch/-/issues/345
Scripts running file operations can obviously cause a lot of load, e.g. when they create temporary files, copy or move them, because the localsearch gets triggered with each operation multiple times. What you can do:
$ touch /Documents/Zotero/storage/.nomedia
excludes the folder from localsearch. If you want it included, you should make sure the python scripts use another temporary file path outside the indexed folders.

Thanks a lot! I will use that to exclude any directories that have volatile contents or those that I don't need available under a local search.
