Weird behavior when using bluetooth headset auto play/pause control

I got the Bose Quietcomfort Ultra, which have a auto play/pause feature when the headphones are took off from the head and/or back on.
This feature works well with Android, but not on my Archlinux laptop.

The headphones pairing went without problems and also the control buttons work. First the auto play/pause feature only worked when I took them off -> media was paused.

The auto play/pause works perfectly fine when I start the mpris-proxy, but then my XF86Audio* keys stop working because playerctl doesn't do anything.

Now the strange part: When I then stop the mpris-proxy all just works fine (auto play/pause and media keys).
I have to repeat this steps (start mpris-proxy and stop it) whenever I connect the headphones.

I didn't configure my bluetoothd to startup without AVRCP.

How can I fix this behavior so that I can control media via the auto play/pause feature and with my keyboard?

Thanks smile

Steps to make it work:

  • Connect bluetooth headset

  • systemctl --user start mpris-proxy.service
  • systemctl --user stop mpris-proxy.service
