Calibre packaging

Hi
I noticed Calibre package is not updated since 7.17 version. It was flagged out-of-date on Sept. 13  2024. Last official stable version is 7.21. So, I 'installed' this official Calibre binary from Calibre website https://download.calibre-ebook.com/7.html
Signatures are here https://calibre-ebook.com/signatures/
I just uncompressed and copied Calibre directory/files in user home, no real 'installation'. It works fine. So, there must be a good reason for the package not to be updated.  Does anyone have information about Calibre packaging problem?

Re: Calibre packaging

This is pure speculation, but three weeks ago an update was done and the commit was commented as "Fix crashes with Qt 6.8". If your binary downloaded 7.21 version is working fine on an otherwise completely up-to-date Arch system, try patching the PKGBUILD and build the package locally. If all is still well, suggest a patch.

Re: Calibre packaging

The official calibre package has been slow to update for a while, but there's a new calibre-bin one in AUR. Alternatively, calibre-git also exists, which has been around for about 10 years, but it's compiled from source, so I'd expect compilation errors from time to time.
