setting up pam with thinkfinger

so im trying to setup my arch laptop to use the fingerptint reader, the reader itself is working fine, but i have two questions regarding pam setup,
first of all i think pam is not set up correctly or at least not as it works by default, here is what happens

hacosta@alcachofa ~ % su
Password or swipe finger: //finger swiped
alcachofa hacosta # su - hacosta
Password or swipe finger: //finger swiped
hacosta@alcachofa ~ %

this is fine, but it shouldnt ask for it if you are root
next issue
according to this post http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=29310&p=2 the touchpad doesnt work with kde apps, but in this blog http://www.maven.pl/?p=18 i can see its working, granted, its using the closed version of the "scanner" but the pam module is the same..
and my final issue
in some online instructions i have seen i should just add

auth sufficient pam_bioapi.so {5550454b-2054-464d-2f45-535320425350} /etc/bioapi/pam/
password sufficient pam_bioapi.so {5550454b-2054-464d-2f45-535320425350} /etc/bioapi/pam/
auth required pam_unix2.so nullok_secure
#auth required pam_env.so
#auth required pam_unix2.so

to /etc/pam.d/common-auth  why doesnt arch have this file?

Yes, why doesn't Arch have common-auth?
