As of a couple of system updates ago, I started having sound issue with my audio setup. Specifically, after a few hours of a reboot, I hear scratching/static noise whenever an audio app is running (Reaper, in my case). This is a new problem, I have had a rock solid system for the last couple of years.
The system is a Dell Precision 5820 Tower workstation with 64GB Ram (4x16) powered by an Intel Xeon W-2123 CPU @ 3.60GHz
The hardware I/O setup includes:
1. an M-Audio USB M-Track Duo interface, with a pair of microphones connected
2. (Monitor) Audio out from the interface to the earphone
3. Audio out from the interface to external preamp connected to the external monitor speakers
4. A midi keyboard connected to a M-Audio MidiSport 1x1 MIDI to USB bridge (the M-Track Duo has no MIDI input, unfortunately)
5. I also have an external portable hard drive connected via USB

It seems obvious there is a problem, but I have no clue how to diagnose what is wrong, as I unfortunately am clueless about Linux audio. I am not even sure I understand what the pipewire message sin the log mean. Where should I start?
Someone on the linuxaudio subreddit suggested the problem may lie with the USB subsystem being overwhelmed and suggested trying to switch USB ports. I did that and the situation has slightly improved---I still occasionally hear static noise, but less frequently. Perhaps I should get an additional USB card as the redditor did? I have plenty of physical space available (this is a Dell workstation, not a laptop).
