Greetings,
I updated my system yesterday, and the following started to happen:
After I wake my laptop from sleep, it behaves as intended for some seconds (giving me time to login), and then the screen begins to flicker.
It starts very slow, but every subsequent flicker is double in frequency, ultimately turning screen off in about 4-5 seconds.
Both Arch and Plasma are still responsive---I can save my stuff with Ctrl+S and :wq, and gracefully shutdown.
Important note:
Previously, after waking from sleep, there would be just black screen with cursor (backlight on), that would change back to normal once I blind-type and enter my password. I was relatively fine with it.
Now, after flickering, the backlight ends up turned off, but I can still see some shadows (of something indistinguishable) as I blindly navigate through GUI.
As turned out, this is likely amdgpu issue, so I updated the title.

Same stuff,
Other distro (fedora 41), similar package versions,
Systemd, selinux, kde, relatively fresh install.
Just started after recent updates.
Not an nvidia system. Amd Laptop.
Nothing reasonable in the logs.
Maybe I'll test the same with arch bit can't promise.
Edit:
Changing standby mode from s0ix to classic s3 behaves differently: No screen woes but UI freeze after a similar while.

I am facing the same issue on Gnome after updating all the packages (last time I've upgraded was like a week ago or so). So it's not plasma-specific. Still looking for a solution.
Edit: looks like the 6.12.5-6.12.6 kernels are affected. Downgrade to fix the issue

Thanks! Does your system run on amd gpu? Just gathering info, because both RentableBrick's and my systems do.

Same issue on AMD laptop. Downgrading to kernel 6.11 solved the issue for now.

Yup.
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 4650U (12) @ 2.10 GHz
GPU: AMD Radeon Vega Series / Radeon Vega Mobile Series [Integrated]
I use arch btw
There's already an open issue: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/3853
And an ongoing discussion on Red Hat's bugzilla: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2333543

FYI 6.14 is the last unaffected version

It seems to be fixed, I couldn't reproduce the issue on 6.12.7. Marking as solved.
