I wanted to try the improved fglrx hibernation handling on my laptop, so built the new fglrx drivers using the 2.6.20 patch obtained from the fedora forum and PKGBUILDs from 8.33.6 obtained from CVS. Decided I might as well share the packages with the rest of the archers wanting to try these drivers before the official package release is made.
PKGBUILDS:

Prebuilt (on Arch 0.8 with 32-bit kernel 2.6.20-4 and all the latest packages of the current date):
ati-fglrx-8.34.8-1.pkg.tar.gz c640ca025bc8a876a20dade70fce1819

Sorry, I haven't tested these on the x86_64 platform.
ATI's release notes for this version: https://a248.e.akamai.net/f/674/9206/0/ … .34.8.html and a review from Phoronix: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=a … =649&num=1
Overall the new driver doesn't add much in terms of features but is mostly a maintenance release. Enjoy.

Yes suspend is finally working properly, however there are a few qwerks: If your laptop enters suspend mode while a 3D game is running, The machine may sometime lock up when you exit the game, but it does still run normally before exiting. Also I've noticed that no audio can be heard when coming out of suspend mode (or at least while using the aRTs daemon) even with all channels unmuted. The fix is to mute and unmute the PCM channel. Your wireless network may disconnect (noticed under ndiswrapper) when coming out of suspend mode, not sure if the same happens with wired Ethernet. But those are only minor compared to the fact that this is finally working, they are easy to get around.

Couldn't resist

Glad to help out, I love Arch

I haven't gotten around to testing on that platform since there was no free space for an extra install for Arch64 on my laptop, However I will be leveling the unused windows xp partition and test it out on there either tonight or tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes, and how/if the drivers work.
