Hey ArchForum,
I ran into an issue after I switched from PopOS to Arch. After installing the system with GNOME / Wayland OBS cannot capture smooth picture with screen capture. Even writing in the terminal is stuttering heavily through OBS preview. If I play a video in any application the video plays for me fine but the OBS preview is like 3fps. If I use Window capture all is fine, no issues whatsoever. If I use X11 all is fine but X11 is not a solution for me as I use multiple monitors and if all of them turned while Im streaming my fps in game is super high but only get 60hz worth as the side screens are 60hz each.
Tried pacman, yay, flatpak OBS as well, all produce the same issue but on top of that the new Fedora GNOME has the same issue with all AMF, Intel Quicksync and Nvidia encoders as well. Also Linux Mint 22 had the same issue with GNOME.
Tried installing vulkan-radeon, amdvlk, all variants of gstreamer, all variants of vaapi, tried amd pro drivers and start OBS with it accross multiple installs. And of course tried doing all of this on the flatpak side as well.
All xdg-desktop is installed which needed. gnome, wlr, gtk and the base one.
Nothing did the trick, the issue remained the same. OBS log does not show any errors. Vainfo output is all good.
Tried base arch, zen and cachyos kernel also but the problem persists. Tried updating the system from the cachy repos which upgraded like 600 pkgs. The stutter is still there. 3fps lol
I dont really know what else to try, maybe tried more stuff too but I just lost count
This bug is preventing me from switching to arch as I cant live stream without a screen capturer.
I use flatpak OBS on Popos with the newest kisak fresh mesa drivers and had no issues since I installed the OS 4 years ago but on Arch I just cant get it working for over a week now.
I think the problem lies somewhere in Gnome, Pipewire or Wayland but i just cant figure out where.
Please let me know if you guys need more info to be able to help.
Im quite new to arch and literally this is my first post here as I really couldnt find the solution, so I hope I abide by all the rules on here
