Re: [Resolves] High ping spikes with NetworkManager + iwd on wifi

I'd say your network doesn't work reliably at all anymore (tried to "ping _gateway"?) and wrt "I reinstalled Windows" there's a good chance the reason is the
3rd link below. Mandatory read.
Disable it (it's NOT the BIOS setting!) and reboot windows and linux twice for voodo reasons (well, for the install iso you probably don't have to reboot that)

Didn’t work.
I even tried reflasing the iso on another USB, still didn’t work.
Something is so wrong I cannot wrap my head around it.

Re: [Resolves] High ping spikes with NetworkManager + iwd on wifi

Didn’t work.

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=57855

The usb key will hardly be relevant to wifi issues, post

ip a; ip r; ping -c10 _gateway

In doubt make a photo of the screen and link that (please don't embed huge images)

Something is so wrong I cannot wrap my head around it.

You'll still have to provide some relevant data for some head-wrapping assitance.

I connected to an AP hosted by my Raspberry Pi since my normal WiFi AP refuses to work with the computer (it stays connected to the “Minh Khue” AP for a bit and then drops the connection, and I was unable to connect to it again)
And with the new AP it still doesn’t let me access archinstall, even though I can ping archlinux.org

Re: [Resolves] High ping spikes with NetworkManager + iwd on wifi

ping 10.42.0.1

and try to https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/IPv6#D … ctionality

with the new AP it still doesn’t let me access archinstall

Please don't paraphrase, what does "doesn’t let me access archinstall" even mean? It's a local script.

Maybe also use the opportunity, don't rely on an installer script that officially isn't even meant to help you intall archlinux but follow https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide

Re: [Resolves] High ping spikes with NetworkManager + iwd on wifi

With ipv6 disabled archinstall still doesn’t work.
Pinging to the ip you gave results which are in the image: https://imgur.com/a/TXcWXJt
As for the reason of why I use archinstall: I want a middle ground between endeavorOS (plug and play) and normal, vanilla Arch. I will definitely install Arch from scratch once I have the time though
Thank you for your help so far smile

Re: [Resolves] High ping spikes with NetworkManager + iwd on wifi

There's no discernible issue w/ your network, so you'll have to be more specific about

archinstall still doesn’t work

Typical issues might be a bunch of bogus mirrors and archinstall not updating them w/ reflector or a dated keyring, but you'll have to post the actual error messages.
Repeating "doesn't work" won't move this ahead.

It hangs on “Checking version…” for a few minutes and then says “Arch Linux mirrors are not reachable”

This isn't going anywhere…

I don't know what "it" is, but if you can

curl "https://archlinux.thaller.ws/core/os/x86_64/core.db.tar.gz" > /dev/null

"it" is lying to you and if you can only

curl "http://archlinux.thaller.ws/core/os/x86_64/core.db.tar.gz" > /dev/null

you're facing an ssl problem, which is likely the system time and if you cannot even that but still

ping archlinux.thaller.ws

the problem is the mtu and if "ping archlinux.thaller.ws" fails we need to see the actual error message - not your rendition of it.

And assuming "it" is the ridiculous installer script that gets sold to people as making the arch installation somehow easy despite having no idea what ones doing (the official purpose is for pros to automatize mass deployment), I'll again point at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Installation_guide

This thread has over two pages gone from diffuse ping spikes w/ a specific setup on an installed system to "the archinstall script doesn't work for unspecific reasons"
The solution to both problems is likely the same: don't use that script, install the system following the official guide, see whether the original problem returns.
