Hello everyone,
I've been experiencing random reboots and freezes on my Arch Linux system since about a week ago. I installed the microcode updates (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Microcode). Unfortunately, the reboots have continued even after that.
I suspect this might be a hardware issue, but I'm not sure which component is failing. Can anyone suggest how I can diagnose the problem? I've tried checking system logs, but I haven’t found any obvious errors that could point to a specific issue. I have an AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5650U with Radeon Graphics.
Thank you very much for your help!

what changed "about a week ago" that may have caused this? did you do an update ? if so revert the changes and see if the problem persists.
if you suspect hardware failure then try basic troubleshooting, run a memtest first as its the quickest and easiest thing to do, try re-seating/replugging all components, try a live linux usb that isnt arch and see if that freezes too, etc etc and try pinpoint the failure.
EDIT: also if you have access to other hardware like PSU/CPU/mobo and can swap in a donor for testing do that too...

I'm seriously not sure whyt that was removed as "outdated" or how systematic hardware issues and aggressive board vendors can become "outdated, but see https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?ti … om_reboots

Thank you for your replies.
I increased the CpuVid value by 7 on all cores using amdctl (https://github.com/kevinlekiller/amdctl). This corresponds to a voltage increase of about 0.04V.
I made this change 24 hours ago and haven't experienced any problem since, whereas I was encountering multiple crashes per day before.

Try to get this to the lowest value you can get away with and a stable system and please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
