boot freezes when enabling "efi=disable_early_pci_dma" kernel option

hello! I am attempting to improve the security my laptop's arch install. I was following this article and enabled the kernel parameters for DMA mitigations and now my system won't boot. I have done enough debugging to know that the "efi=disable_early_pci_dma" kernel option is the only problem preventing system startup. I have enabled this option before on previous arch installs, and it is enabled on my desktop too. The only difference is that I am using a unified kernel image which seems to not play nice with this kernel option.

I am unsure what logs to post. I am also unable to post dmesg log outputs relevant to the halted startup, as the boot process hangs before it asks for my encryption password.

If anyone can help out that would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

Re: boot freezes when enabling "efi=disable_early_pci_dma" kernel option

have you tried if thie option also causes issues when not using a UKI but a boot loader like grub?
