phishing website popup

A phishing? website (https://mmrtb.com ... ) popped up whilst I was using Firefox on arch - didn't look closely, seemed to be 'here's a great offer, give us your email and ...'.

Closed the page browser but just wondering how best to deal with this?

Haven't visited / didn't have any suspicious sites open, so hopefully haven't picked up malware.

Looking at the full url, seems to be attached to a geeksforgeeks.org page I visited - speculation on my behalf, apologies to all if I'm wrong about that.

I've inactivated two default extensions on Firefox.

I've had a go at enabling ufw with some basic rules (probably put more on that in a separate post).

Re: phishing website popup

ufw might be a useful tool in general but not so much for phishing and malware websites, for that you should consider something like ublock origin. mmrtb is already included in one of the default filter lists there.
