For months, I was using dunst to send notifications and everything worked just fine. I also installed py3status and put
status_command py3status on my i3 config. But I have never configured any configuration file for py3status though, so my i3 bar had the default i3status appearance for months and everything worked just fine.
Yersterday, I decided to configure my py3status config file which worked just fine. But when I reboot my machine today, my dunst notifications stoped working somehow. Once i3 has started, if I open my terminal and run
dunstctl set-paused false my notifications start working again, but when I put this on i3 config to execute at i3 startup it does not work. Finally, I decided to remove my ~/.config/py3status/config file as it was the only change to my system I did yersterday. Once I did that, things started working again. I really can't think how these py3status can relate to dunst, but whenever my py3status config, dunst does not start automatically.
