Has anyone succeeded in customizing underlining or bold text in the output of less (or in man pages rendered via the MANPAGER environmental variable set to less with options)?
The ArchWiki in 'Color output in console' says that:
export LESS='-R --use-color -Dd+r$Du+b$'
for example, "will set red for bold and blue for underlined." But this does not work at all in my terminal (= xfce4 terminal running on X) -- unsurprisingly, because the man page for less explicitly says that color/format customization with the -D option does ***not** apply to bold/underlined text produced via ANSI codes:
The "d" and "u" letters refer to bold and underline text formed by overstriking with backspaces (see the -U option), not to text using ANSI escape sequences with the -R option.
Any thought?
